Default Scrambler 500 gear switch indicator question

I took my scrambler out today for a ride and noticed gear oil leaking pretty good from under the little black gear indicator switch that mounts on top of the rear gear case..is there a gasket under the switch?? and if I took it off is there anything thats going to fall out - fly out etc..Thanks alot!!

it has a gasket formed right to it. If you take it off nothing is going to spring up at you. If it is still working properly just take it apart, clean it and put a little sealer on it.
