big problem!!!

Default big problem!!!

i was draining my ft diff and has chunks of black plastic in the bottom of the clear drain pan(this sucks).. oh well gota plow filled it back up.. decided to change the plastic buttons in the secondary and after getting it apart the helix has worn groves ... can i buff / file them out ,,, or do i need a new one... this was probalby my big loss of power.. the buttons were burnt to the screw head(hence the gooves in the helix..... what should i do... was this my loss of power........HEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!!!!

i would smooth them out best you can maybe w/ fine emery paper. i wouldnt file them tkaes too much off. replace the buttons and go from there. the diff. i dont know but it doesnt sound good. did you look at a parts list to see what they might be?

i am sure the cage busted in diff but 4 by4 still works all the time,at least i can still plow. i will get that to the dealer to repair under warrenty when i can leave it for 2 weeks... the helix worrys me , the buttons wer worn but not to the screw head on futher inspection... what caused the grooves . the buutons were worn about a 1/4 inch...

im not sure, my guess would be that the buttons get real hot and almost turn into a hard glazed plastic that would eat right into the alum. helix.

kinda waht i was thinking,, i am going to use emery paper to smooth the grooves out and the buff with aluminum polish useing a dremal...., that should be nice and slick....

used emery paper and buffed the rest of the grooves out and works fine... ready for 6-8 inches of snow tomorrow..........see ya!
