Default 2000 sportsman - lil help.

Looking into purchasing a 2000 sportsman. Is this a good year for these? or maybe stay away from this year for some reason. I am not an ATV guy but a snowmobile guy. or is a different year way better for some reason? locking diffs? Thanks for any help. Never bought one before.

Is the 2000 a H.O motor? (H.O =Hight Out put) It just has a different cam and a larger carb. My dad has a 97 non H.O sportsman and it has been very reliable ,so either motor in fine.

I believe this is not an HO. The stickers on it just said 500. Yeah I am thinking it is not a big deal - both are good motors hopefully. I have not heard anything bad about any year of a sportsman.....
Any more help would be great! Thanks

beware of the polaris , plastic cage problem in the front diff awd.Seems that many owners have awd problems after 3000miles!!i believe it is a very costly repair.Oher problems are worn ball joints , loose steering due bearings not being greased etc.The modal you are talking about has many grease zerks and hey require greasing or they will wear.problem with used bike is they may not have been maitained very well
polaris is a great bike but high maintenence
