1991 Trail Boss 350L 2X4 Question

How much gas is running out of the hose, it should be pretty full, if not the shut off is partly plugged. The two "lines 'your talking about are the choke cable, wich you can unscrew with a 12mm wrench and it will pull out, and the throttle cable wich you have to take the side cover with 4 screws off and un-hook the cable from inside. Then get some carb cleaner and taketop and bottom off the carb, the jets and needle and seat out and clean every hole out good. Check the float level , the brass part where the float ***** are should be level with the bottom of carb, hope this helps.

I just rebult the carb,
what do you mean see fuel come out?? you shuoldnt see any fuel running out of the carb. better check float levels if you do. whenit shuts off, did you pull the plug to see if its wet/dry. if wet way too much fuel.

Yea I see fuel coming out of the carb, I have the breather off, im not getting enough fuel, the only way i can keep it running is to spray fuel or starting fuel in the carb, I do not have a fuel pump free flowes from tank through the shutoff valve into the carb. how can I check the float levels

fyi- the stock jetting is, pilot#30 , main is either a #200 for a 'j' model or 220 if it isnt. the float controls the amount of gas that flows into the carb. w/ the float level set level in the carb it shuts off the gas flow into the carb, otherwise it would flood the engine w/ gas right into the base. btw i wouldnt keep spraying staring fluid in it to keep it running.not real heathly for it. when you say rebuilt, what did you parts did you replace? a kit usally comes w/ a float needle and seat. if you have gas coming into the carb and its clean it will running. if your missing the whole air box assem. you better find one used somewhere. it would expenssive i bet to buy it new.

the numbers i gave you are the siz of the jets.(should be stamped right in the jet. the float is either not set right or you dont have needle in or its wrong for the carb. did you replace the needle that goes in the seat. it is a small piece of metal w/ a rubber or steel point to it that goes into the seat and shuts off the gas. if you look at a diagram you'll see what i mean. i set mine about level, so when you flip the carb upside down in your hand and look at the float the flat piece of steel that pushes against the needle should be fairly level across. its hard to explain.

just a dumb thought, but i have heard of the floats failing and filling up w/ gas. make sue their in good shape and not cracked to they will float.
