need help on a 500ho

Default need help on a 500ho

Well i stepped in over my head i think.i have a 2001 500 ho sportsman,when i tryed to start it it starts back fireing through the carb.i have checked the timing according to the repair manual and it all checks out ok,i took the carb apart and cleaned every thing and put it back together,and by the way i opened the air bleeder screw on the bottom of the carb 2 turns,i put it all back together and tryed to start it and same thing will run real rough for 3 or 4 seconds and poof it quits.i also replaced the plug and and checked for good spark it all checked out fine.any ideas I NEED HELP thanks .....

is it on the very out side of the carb i think that that is the screw for the bowle which im thinking will let out the gas......NOT quite sure what screw ur talking about here but then agiin i dont have a sm i got the trailblazer....so dont quote me

Thanks for the reply,the screw on the carb is on the bottom in front of the bowl inset a bit its hard to see if your not looking.thanks again

Take the valve cover off and check the cam lobes .MY bet is you have a bad cam.

the same thing happenened to mine when i had a clogged pilot jet.

you might try taking the carb off and clean it real good, the pilot jet will need a very small thin peice of wire poked thru it, to dislodge whatever is cloggin it.
