I have 1993 350L and a 1994 400L. IMO one o the best for off roading light and good quick power.

Default 97 400L 4x4

I bought this '97 Sportsman 400 4x4 2-stroke a few months ago that wasnt running. After some troubleshooting I found that it blew a clutch side oil seal. Changed both sides out and it runs great. Speedo doesnt work and shows over 3k miles. Compression is at 125psi. I still have a couple of things to take of on her before she's 100%.
Oh by the way, after riding 3-wheelers since the early '80s, this popo rides like a caddy. Still have an '85 Honda 250es Big Red.

NOPE!! The fellas with the 85 models are! If any one owns an 85 t/boss or scrambler(3 wheeler) you win! Only saw one scrambler in 23 years at our dealership, scary to ride and butt ugly!! Old post, but couldn't help but jump in!) OPT

I have my 96 400 Sportsman 2 stroke, bought with 120 miles on it. My main bike up until 2005
Has 2650 on it Still original piston. Has had the balance shaft seal done. 2 LF wheel bearings. Belt at 1500 miles, Brakes once. Starter @ 1800, fields came loose from rust inside. (that's when I learned to stay out of deep water) On 3rd Battery. Rear Chain and sprocket at 2300. Seat cover. Front tires at 2400 miles (Original cracked through, which was the first flat this bike ever had) Back still has good tread.
Changing coolant res now, sun has cracked the white plastic and tie rod ends. They would go farther but have @ .075 to .1" play in each now. I'm kinda fussy about my toys, and i think it still looks it

It has pulled several moose out and a 5 by 8' ta atv trailer I built quite a bit. Never been beat on too much, but has worked hard at times. Plowed my 300 ft lane and yard for a few years
All electrical still works.
I have a 05 500 with 1650 on it and my buddy or nefew usually ride this when we go moose hunting. My 7 year old runs it a bit now too, complains his 90 sportsman needs 4x4 and reverse. And I tell him you know what kinda wheeler I had when I was 7 ??!
Here is is hauling a 1000 fuel tank (empty of course) when we were wapping up a job and pulling out.

My 05 with the other trailer when both were new

Pretty sure I'll just keep it, have have twin sons who are 5 too, so after several year with a cramped riding style, I'm hoping soon I'll be doing more.
