Default still having problems w/cv boot...please help..argggggg

I think Im gonna be sick.I put the cv boot clamps that came with the kit I bought on e-bay on and spun the rear wheel after stage1 torquing the hub nut to rotate the front hub......when I did the clamp caught inside the strut and ripped the boot right off! Is the ^%$ing clamp not right?its a little thicker than the original.or what the ^%* is going on please help!!!!! one more question .......if I decide to take the shaft out of the front gear and take the whole thing to the dealer to put a new boot on for me ,how do i get the roller pin out?.....Thanks alot for any help Id be lost without this site and you gearheads that run it...lol

if its a roll pin, just use the correct size punch to match up w/ the pin size and tap it out w/ hammer. make sure the punch or what ever you use is just about the same size as the pin. it will come out hard. if its all rusty maybe spray some pb blaster on it. im not sure about those clamps, but in genral they all suck.

The only clamps that clear the strut housing are the OEM style clamps. Other clamps can only be used if the housing is adjusted with a die grinder.

I bought some after market boots from ebay and had the same problems with those clamp. I ended up contacting the seller and he refunded my money. I went back to the factory boots and clamps.

i have had that problem many times those clanps suck and nothing else clears the gap. i found either get oem or 16gauge steel wire wraped around once or twice where the clamp goes works perfect aslong and you take a pair of pliers and tighten the wire and cut off access

Hey exrider, the wire idea is outstanding! I have found any clamps other than stock are not worth a damn. Since I now have to tear down my front end to replace aftermarket boots and clamps, I still can't figure for the life of me how to install the stock clamps using needlenose pliers. If you can shed some light on this please help!

buy the correct pliers to do the job. I picked some up at napa, paid $20. You will tear another and another and will use the pliers again and again.
