500HO Shifting problems
#1
Just got a new 500 HO and I HATE the shifting mechanism. The "throw" seems so short.Doesn't go in gear half the time, pops out of gear the other half, this thing pisses me off. My brother-in-law's does the same thing. Give me back my 400L!
Anybody else have this problem or have a solution?

Thor,
This happens on flat ground and no trailer !
If I turn down the idle anymore it wouldn't be running ! Cold blooded mother.......
I will try lubricating the linkage though.
Thanks for the help.

Mike,
My Magnum did it a few times on flat ground also when it had less than 400 miles on it. But it would usually do it at the least opportune moment like backing up on an incline on a trail in the woods and I couldn't get it into forward. Or hitching it up to a snowmobile trailer with the Magnum in reverse and then trying to go forward. But all of that goes away as the miles accumulate.
The technician at the store I frequent told me that it was caused by the straight cut gears in the transmission. There is no bevel on the gears at all. I lubed my linkage in every place I could think of, at the shifter and at the transmission and worked the lube in by shifting it in and out of gear for about 15 minutes.
My son is having no shifting problems on his Sportsman HO
