Default Submerged

Had a little "incident" yesterday while we were out riding. The X2 decided it wanted to take a swim!!! It was submerged right up to but not including the pod. I won't go into all the grizzly details, I just wanted to know what all I should do to make sure I won't have any problems down the road. We drained everything and towed it back to the trucks. I will obviously be changing all the fluids (the engine oil several times I'm sure), greasing all fittings etc. We pulled a couple connections off the rear end to see if there was any water in them and they were bone dry!? Is there anything else I should do or is changing all the fluids sufficient? Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

basicly if you checked the fluids and found no water. i wouldnt change it. make the air filter is not wet or bad. i had to change mine when i realized it had good mud and water in it. other wise you should be fine. as long you dont seewhite filmy crap in the oil or discolored.

Stendori is right on there, fluids and make sure there are ne discolors to the oil and you should be fine. Reason I know cuz I lived through that one. Bike was 6 weeks old, made one payment on it and we took a bath in 6'+ deep water. And I swim like my bike, not very well. She was upside down in the water for about 2 hours before I managed to get it out. But had it running fine the next day after doing the fuilds and also draining the carb.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the responses. There was definately water in the oil which took 4 changes to flush right out, but I did 5 to be on the safe side. Flushed the rear diff twice and put the Polaris stuff in. Does anyone know what you can use in place of the Polaris fluid for the rear diff? The front diff was fine but I changed it anyhow. One confusion on that though is that the manual states to fill with 6oz's and then goes on to say to fill to the bottom of the threads and requires two diiferent amounts. Does anyone know which it should be for sure??

the manuals mostly say 5 ozs. but i would fill to the bottom of the treads and you will be fine.
