Default K&N Air Filter

I have a K&N in my Hawkeye and I use the stock prefilter with it. Works great, leaned out the mixture to where it should be, which resulted in crisper throttle response.

you have to be careful not to over oil these filters or it will give you the oppisit effect as to make it run extremly rich when it cuts down the air flow.

Okay when you maintance the stock paper filter
by blowing air on it and wash the pre-filter cover
w/soap and water then thoroughly dry it, is that
it? Or is there some type of oil spray that is
recommended in spraying the filter or pre-filter?

R'

P.S Yes Yes I am still learning these things
thanks for your all patience, Stendori will
attest, I am coming along, eheh lol

I just blow out the paper filter with compressed air and wash the pre-filter with warm water and dish soap!!!!!......I then blow off the pre-filter and let dry and put back.........Last years did me for 1000 miles no trouble at all ...and let me say it does get dusty.....Not so much mine (I am out front) but my wife's behind me all the time and her's needed most of the cleaning after every second ride or so !!!
So this year two more new ones will be going back in!!!!!........Caper...........

the worst thing u could do with a foam filter is not put grease on the carb side of the filter, that is the most essential part of a foam filter. i use a kn filter though. the quad was way to lean after that, so it needed rejetted

Thought? Should you have a few different types of
air filters for change outs? Foam would be better
for water and mud terrian? Paper better for the dirt/dust?
K&N better for less of the stated above, like open solid
terrain for performance speed gain?

I went with a UNI filter for the only reason that when it get's wet, it's not a $30 mushy piece of paper. I sunk my Scrambler 3 time last year and my UNI filter dried in the sun and a couple trail side oil changes and I was on my way again. When I sunk with a paper filter, it was mush in my carb. Thats the only reason I went with a foam filter. The same water hole isn't the same depth every time you cross. LOL

More Air = More Power!
That's what K&N provides & that's what I run on my Banshee. I removed my airbox & run two air filters, also moved up on my jets.
I clean & oil my filters after each ride. I also run outerwears & have no problems with debris sucking thru the filters. No probs in the trails & no probs in the dunes. As said above, don't overdue it with too much oil & you don't want your outwears to seep in oil. That would restrict the airflow & tend to bog.

More Air=Larger openings!!!!...Less restriction!!!!====Small particale getting by!!!
As for the outerwears......If there are restriction more than the filter(catching the larger debris).....Than Why does anybody need A K&N with more air flow.....If the pre-filter is the one causing the most restriction??????Don't make any sense to me!!!!......

That's like putting on a high flow exhust with the stock low flow muffler!!!
Or selling your T.V. so you can go out and buy a DVD player!!!!
.........Caper...........
