That's what K&N provides & that's what I run on my Banshee. I removed my airbox & run two air filters, also moved up on my jets.
I clean & oil my filters after each ride. I also run outerwears & have no problems with debris sucking thru the filters. No probs in the trails & no probs in the dunes. As said above, don't overdue it with too much oil & you don't want your outwears to seep in oil. That would restrict the airflow & tend to bog.
More Air=Larger openings!!!!...Less restriction!!!!====Small particale getting by!!!
As for the outerwears......If there are restriction more than the filter(catching the larger debris).....Than Why does anybody need A K&N with more air flow.....If the pre-filter is the one causing the most restriction??????Don't make any sense to me!!!!......

Then you would prob have to experience it for you to understand. I have the perfect exhaust, carb mods to accomodate the K&N & airflow coming in. There's no probs with the outerwear unless they seep in oil.

ClimbAnyHill,

Do you have pics to show your air-filter
setup? Did you do your carb mods yourself?

I do, but don't know how do do the picture thing yet. We're not able to post pics on this forum, any how-to tips?
Nothing to it on the carbs, simply opened up the carbs & replaced with bigger jets & adjusted the airfuel screw.

Alot of us just use the pictire gallery (Tab found above this forum window),
look under everyone's name/alias to the left, you don't need to be a supporting
member, thats a easy step, but some get fancy with putting
up on myspace.com type sites etc.

I was able to see your PICS! Your icon
is there, maybe you couldn't see it yourself
refreshing/browser issue or something.

Question what is the K&N pod? Is that to
say just the filter with the slip over pre-filter
unit? Also, is the K&N really good for dusty
trails, I am going to mountain trails in a week
or two, or better off with my paper?

R'

in my opinion i think that the k&n air filter is over hyped. they do flow very well, but they dont stop alot of the smaller particles. now with a foam filter they stop nearly everything and they flow just as well as k&n. i went from a k&n to a gytr on my raptor and the gytr foam filter flowed much better than the k&n filters. my brother who rides and races dirt bikes, once told me if k&n filters are that great y dont professional dirt bikes riders use them. there bikes are worth around $20k, y wouldnt they use the best filter to protect there engine.

I run a K&N in my wolverine 450, a stock paper in my 250 and a stock foam in my badger, so far the badger is the only one that has been rebuilt due to no compression from a worn out valve/cylinder(dust particles really do get past foam filters people)

The 250 paper filter is still working good, but if I really was inclined to give the 250 more power I would get a K&N and other mods.

The best way to do a k7n is to oil it and then let it hang for about an hour to drip off the excess oil that way you are not over oiling it before you put it in the quad.

I run K&N in my trucks as well, I have never had a problem with over 100,000 miles on one filter, I used to clean it at about ever 25,000 to 30,000 in a truck, on a quad every year for sure.(cheap insurance to check it once in a while)

By pods i just meant individual filters & they have an outerwear sleeve. Sleeve & the oil keeps the debris out!
They're fine for the trails, that's what I mostly ride. A good clean after each ride & you'll be set.
They reall don't get that dirty since they sit just above the engine. A stock sits in the back up by the seat.
