If its the head gasket there would be coolant in your oil.

it all depends on where the gasket lets go. if you are burning it then it must be a very small amount over a long period as not to see or smell it. but justthe same check your oil to be safe.

There are lots of posts on this. Did you look for air bubbles in the radiator? Is it blowing out of the overflow bottle? Check to see that the neck that the rad cap goes into is round. It can become warped and oblong (sp) - oval - not round!!!? lol

sometimes the gasket between the stator housing and crankcase leaks, this will leak water into engine, also ive seen cyl base gaskets leak water into engine, be sure to make sure it is not these two as it is pretty expensive to fix worn lifters and camshaft.

how would I check the base gasket? please dont tell me I gotta take it a part! I dont wanna take the "cans" off. motor runs huge just loses about the difference from max to min in about 40 ? miles but on trail rides 200+ miles it doesnt run the radiator dry. no bubbles in rad as I have had it on its side several times and have flushed the cooling system a few times also

if you knew someone w/ a leak down tester to use, you could maybe see where the air comes out and find the leak. just a thought.

Chech your oil dip stick, coolant mixed with oil shows and smells easily enough. Let us know.

oil does not appear to have water in it.

guessing most likey if you checked all your hoses and connections and found no leakage, then its most likely the head gasket, just a guess.
