Well went for a long ride the other weekend and the funniest thing happened. I noticed OIL all over my left side of the quad.. Scrambler 500 2005.
Somehow, a rock or God only knows, BROKE my filler neck on the oil tank. I lost a quart of OIL but the filler neck and dip stick were still in place. It broke off where it was molded into the tank. After a fellow rider gave me a quart(thank god as I was 27 miles by GPS from teh highway) I used a roll of electrical tape to make a plug and then taped it around the tank many times. QUESTON: SHOULD I 5 MIN EPOXY the piece back on and make a alum guard or buy a new tank and still make a alum guard? I'm making a guard either way but I need a oil tank..
What year will fit my 05 scrambler?
Can I use a alum tank I found on e bay?

Anybody else have this happen?

my opinion I would get a new tank - dont take a chance of it coming apart while your out again. make a guard - dont know about the alum tank

 

if it will bolt up and holds the same amount it should. make sure the hoses are in the right areas.
