2001 sportsman 500 ho not putting out
Hi, I don't know what else to do??? Last weekend I bought a 2001 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. and ran it out at the sand dunes for the weekend and I noticed that it was pretty off and on. Climbing hills or really pinning on her would make the quad sputter like it was running out of power. It's never not made a hill and most of them weren't very high or steep but it sure putts its way over. So after the weekend I took it into the polaris shop in town and had them look at it after I couldn't find anything myself and they checked and cleaned the carbs and checked plugs and what not and couldn't find anything either. He drained the gas and said it was a little watery and filled it with new stuff and said it wasn't sputtering for him any more so I took it out and it was fine for about 5 minutes and then started doing it again. So I changed the oil, replaced the oil filter and changed the spark plug and checked the belt it seems to look ok. but I don't know if it could be the belt that is doing this because I did buy a new one but I wasn't sure if it would be worth changing, it doesn't sound like a belt problem to me. But anyways after my little service to it, I took it out and its still not performing, any ideas as to what else to try.

it would have nothing to do w/ the belt if its lacking engine power. it would slip if anything causing the engine to rev up but not to move as fast. if you had water in the gas, did they get it all out? if its sputting or maybe a little backfiring then it would be water still.
