i have a 2000 Sportsman 500 and was wanting to put on either 26" or 27" outlaw tires. I was wondering if it is necessary to have wheel spacers and if so, what size do i need and do i need them for the front and rear. Thanx in advance!

I have an 00 500 SP with 27" claws on it, had to buy the 12" ITP rims for the rear, but the stock rims on the front with the new 27" tires had room, not alot I admit. I think I've got about 1/4 of an inch between the tire and the shock housing. You'll need a front lift for clearance with 27" tires, or them taller tires will bang on the underside of the fender. Didn't need to modify anything else in the rear, but I put the HL lift on the rear to match the front lift.

00Sportsman500,
I have a 2000SP500 with black and chrome ITP wheels and 26x12-12 Outlaws in the rear and 26x10-12 Outlaws in the front. They fit fine with no spacers. I had spacers on my 98SP500 and they made the bike a little wide for me. I thought about adding them to my 00SP500 but I did not due to the fact that I think it puts a little too much pressure on the lower rear a-arm bolts. i broke this bolt on my 98SP500 while the spacers were on and it did alot of damage. However, I know several people that have been running spacers for some time with no problems.

Putting anything except gas and oil into your Polaris will void the warranty. Been there and done that.

not exactly true SWAC1

u can put 26" mudrunners on your machine and not void the warrentee. i think if your dealer instaled any of the aftermarke accessories then u would still have a warrentee, like if he installed a winch and heated hand grips.

i just dont know if the ITP magnums would affect the warrentee. the only thing different that might make a difference is the offset compaired to the stock rims.

I was going to get 26" Outlaws for my sp500, but i thought that the front would need spaced or anything done that i just didnt want to do, So are u telling us that u didnt have to do any mods to the front of the sp500 so that the outlaws would fit?
