Default Starter R&R

Ok so after my las bout w/ the TB and good ol desile fuel...i belive i have fried a starter...now i havent takin a look at it yet but were is it and how hard is it to get to so i can get it rebuilt...it will turn the engine over for a bit but then smoke comes up outa the left hand side...could it be a short? Any help would be great thanks

guessing but i would say the amerture is fried. either way it sounds like it was dragging.

amerture? whats that and were can i find it? I want to get it back up and running so i can get the thing for sale and get a Z400

its the electrical part of the starter in side the case. need to take it off and apart to see it.

ok..now i have most of the plastic off..how the hell do i get that starter out? i cant see any bolts holding it in or anything

looks like there should be a bracket at the end of it where it bolt to the engine. looks like theres 2 bolts that hold it on. thats by the parts break down pic. best i can do for ya.

There are 3 bolts on the right side hidden by the pull starter. You have to remove the pull starter case to get to them. Also like stendori said, there is a bracket on the left side of the starter with 2 bolts. You can get to them with out removing the driven clutch, but it is a pain.
