Default Best for Deep Mudding?

Pretty hard to beat an Arctic Cat in the mud. Superior ground clearance and superior wheel travel. A true locking front end. Next question?</end quote></div>

I ride with a 05 500 Cat. We have the same ground clearance and as for wheel travel, I've never saw his suspension move...... EVER. That thing is as stiff as a board. And if you think Polaris doesn't have TRUE 4X4 then I think you need to ask more questions LOL

I did not say that Polaris didn't have a locker just stated that AC does have one. I wasn't referencing any machine except AC which does have the most ground clearance and also the most wheel travel of any brands. And most everyone around knows that AC's are good in the mud and pretty hard to beat unless you do mods with lift-kits and tall tires. AC gives you a lot to start with right from the factory - then if you do some mods it gets even better.

In JakeROFL's added question (p.s... If there is another make out there that you think is better, please let me know...) I think AC is better and was letting him know. Other people may say Griz, or KQ etc.

Your Polaris may have the same clearance as your friends AC now, but not stock. Is that correct? (I am asking more questions as you suggested). My AC suspension is nice and soft and very articualate, maybe your friend has his preloads turned up too high. I have never seen a Polaris get 11 or 12 inches of wheel travel but mine can, check my pictures if you don't believe me.

CAPER I have 16" in the rear and 15" in the front LOL

BUCKAROO I'm not trying to start a pi$$ing match, just stating my opinions. No my Popo isn't stock and neither is my bud's Cat. His has never rode nice. It always seems very rough over the smallest stuff.
Define wheel travel..... Do you mean the actual suspension travel??

We're cool, just discussing and sharing opinions. I like Green you like Red that is all. But we still have to stay with apples. Apples to apples. Not a highly modified machine against a stock. Stock against stock.

Wheel travel - how high can the bottom of the tire get off the ground without lifting another tire off the ground.

I have stock springs and stock size tires - 12.25" clearance in front and 12" in the back. - LOL...

JakeROFL's real question is what is the best Polaris (or other brand) for playing in the mud. My opinion:

I have an older 500HO. I have done all of the mods to it myself to make it a decent mudding machine. I ride with bigger AC's, bigger Yamaha's, and bigger Popo's. I have yet to go into a mud hole and not make it out that they have went through. My tire type and size vs. CC combination is perfect for my style. Another words, my engine can turn my tires in any mud without a problem, which is key for mudding. To answer Jake's question, it depends on your budget. Polaris makes a great mudding machine, no question! If you want to go through the deepest of deep stuff, get an 800 EFI, put 29.5" tires, lift it ...don't forget your snorkle If not, I won't get anything smaller than a 500HO if you want anything to go through good mud.

Go Blue!
