Default Sportsman 800 X2

I am leaning toward the X2. Can anyone
tell me how comfortable it is for the
2nd rider? My wife is 217 lbs / 5'9
my over 300 lbs. I know they pack alot
of power in this thing, but I like my SP450
seat, but when I ride others on the back,
I gotta scoot my whole body up on the gas
tank. I would hope in the X2 they give the
extra clearance for the 2nd seater so both
are roomy with plenty of space?

Also, I am holding out on 08' models, anyone
know anything about 08' SP800 X2's?

Hey Ritickwad,

I have a 2007 sp800efi X2 DLX and a 2005 kawie bf750 and for comfort, the sp800 x2 is the best ride I have ever ridden. Even in the 2nd seat position it is great. I am 5'11" and 200lbs and my brother is 5'10" and 190lbs and there is enough room between us that going over bumps we never touch. It is very comfortable in the second seat and as you know, the main seat is the polaris cadillac ride. Before I purchased my 800 X2, we went and tested the can-ams. They were slightly more comfortable in the second seat, however out bodies kept hitting when the quad went over bumps. And to have a seat that is always with you and a 400# capacity dump bed as well is top notch. I would rate mine a 9.9 out of 10 for everything is does. Hope this helps.

I personally would like the rear seat comfort upgraded with softer foam like the front seat. My fix is a one-inch piece of foam that I sit on. This helps for me.
I would like to know how high of a wheelie are your 800X2's getting. No exaggeration please. High gear or low gear. I will check mine over my two week vacation. I notice my X2 does not compare to the regular 800 as far as wheelies but I would expect this due to the extra weight and wheelbase. Thanks.

There is a slight difference between the 800X2 and the 800 regular in reguards to pulling wheelies. This is due to the extra length and where the rear wheels are positioned on the 800X2. However, I can pull about a 6" to 1' wheelie in high range in the driveway. In low range is comes up much better and probably around 1' to 2'. Now when I had my brother on the back in wet grass and in high range, I pulled a wheelie that made the hair on the back of our necks stand up. The quad was probably 60 degrees up and I let off ASAP. This of course was helped by having the extra weight on the passangers seat.

Even though the 800X2 doesn't wheelie that great, it has power to spare and can tow whatever you want. Now my bf750 will stand straight up in high range on wet grass. I have done this a couple of times and the rear kimpex bumper saved my rear. But this is a function of my bf750 having an ignition module and a jet kit as well as being a single seater and slightly lighter in weight compared to my 800X2. I have rode a 800 reqular and it is somewhere inbetween my bf750 and my 800X2 with leaning toward the bf750 side much more. Hope this helps, but I have only done this a few times as I typicall am a cruiser on my quads.

i had heard that the rear set sucked on the x2,but after buying one ,the wife loves it . i weigh 265 lbs and rode on the back for a few hours ,for someone my size i think it could use a little more padding , but its fine for someone lighter. the only thing i had to do to my x2 was add to the rear foot rests, the wifes legs were to short . i made some risers for them from aluminum and raised them up about 5inches.

I believe that polaris has some extention foot rest for the second rider. I saw a set on a 500 x2 at the dealer about a month ago.

OK--- I just ordered a new 800 X2 standard today. Can't wait to get it. Thanks to everyone on their info and replys. As soon as I get it and ride it, I will let you all know what I think. Now I sit here and wait patiently.
