Hawkeye Solution / problems

I'm looking forward to your pictures too! That appears to have made one hell of a difference. The altitude here in Indy is about 800', so I suppose it would help here too?
What is this T-tool your talking about? Is it the 2 pieces that make up the spark plug tool, or is it the tool they show in the maintaince manual?
Would it be about as easy to remove the cam plate, and sheave as a unit and replace all the rollers? I assume you didn't have any balance/vibration issues after removing just two opposing rollers?
I also wonder since I'm having a noise problem from the CVT (see my post about it) if it is the cover bearing going out, and it SHOULD be covered under warranty, if the dealer would install a set of 12 gram rollers for me while the cover is off? At my expense of course. BTW, how much is a set of rollers anyway?

you really dont need to t-tool to Pull of that Roller/sheeve cover ,Its easier to remover just that roller cover and the rollers will fall out, i used it to put that cover back on like a press tool, but tennessee proved that you dont need it , and you really dont, heck i think it vibrates less with 2 less rollers out of it, you can definatly hear the belt Spin with all that roller weight out of it, I read your post on it a few times, and i think it could be that bearing is loose, but mine made a strange noise also , and one day i was in front of it riding down the river and could really hear the noise, I checked the front metal guard and it was loose, tightened it up and that noise was gone , but that clutch is noisy but not any more noise than a freinds kaw 700 prairie so i just kept riding it. Yes have the dealer put in Lighter rollers even if they dont want to . have them check the 2007 Manual it states that you can.

I just got mine done. It took about 4 times as long as it should have because my 2 year old and 5 year old sons had to help! It was a hoot, I'm here to tell you!
I did not have a 30mm socket, well who does, so I had to go buy that.
Anyway, I used all 8 of the 12g rollers and the bike feels like it has more "*****" now than it did in the past. With 8 of the 14g rollers the bike felt very sluggish and lethargic. It now revs faster and smoother than it ever did before.
It no longer feels like its going to explode or vibrate apart under hard acceleration.
Its a nice improvement.
A set of rollers is about $40.

Goood deal Tennessee, i always felt that was where most of the problem was, it just didnt feel right from the start , so really all this hub bub about jetting being wrong i dont think that was the total culprit, im leaning ore towrds clutching than anything. glad you did it man, my directions werent perfect either but we made it.

I had been waiting to do it as I had ordered the rollers months ago. Your very positive review just provided the prodding I needed to get it done.
I give the lighter rollers two thumbs up.
Mine did have some jetting issues last year when I bought it as it would bog on hard acceleration (too rich). I fixed that too.
I'd say if anyone has a couple of hours and $40 they can make this worthwhile change too on the 06 models.

I went ahead and pulled the sheave off, and removed 2 of the rollers. Much better accelleration. As TennesseeTider said it dosen't feel so lethargic.
I too had to go buy a 30mm socket, WheW... $13 at AutoZone. It took more time getting the cover off than removing the sheave and rollers. I had maybe an hour or so in the job. Which was long enough... it's over 90* here in Indy today.
Rickeyparker I appreciate your posts on how to "help" the Hawkeye preform better. Between the drilled carb slide, Dynojet kit, and now the roller removal, you've been a great help.

great write up utube vids help alot ! 1 Q tho polaris stoped giving tools with some 07 hawkeyes and they refused to supply them saying they are discontinued #^$% polaris CS. anyway you dont need the T tool to take it apart but you do to put it back togeather? this is more then a allen T tool isnt it? you said thread the T tool in. So is their anyway to do this without a T tool?
