Default warn winches

hi every body, went out quadding last night, got stuck in some mud, when i was letting my warn winch out,all of a sudden it quit working, and shut down the quad, the winch would work ok if i reeled it in ,but when i tried to let line out,it wouldn't work and it seemed to be sucking power from battery, actually ,when trying to let line out ,battery light came on and lights would dim, again it seems to work fine when i need to pull line in,only when letting line out it won't work, had to pull line out on frewheel rest of trip, not alot of fun,any one got a suggestion what could be the trouble, can't go back out for as ride with this problem not fixed. thanks

It sounds like a a bad contactor relay. I've gone thru 2 of them so far. Can you hear it click when you go to let the winch out??

dont forget to check the cables for bare wire touching the frame some where as well. you could by pass the contacter but hard to type and explain. you could reverse the cables on the winch and use the same direction on the switch and it should make it go out when you hit the in button. this way if it works fine then you know its the contacter going bad. just an idear.
