Default my project 2003 sportsman

Well my dad rolled his Polaris Sportsman 500 high output, insurance totaled it gave him 4 grand and then I bought it back from them for fifty bucks, I figure at the very least I could sell it for parts for more than 50$ but I looked into it and I can get all the parts I need for about 1000-2000$ so it will be a slow process cause I'm poor but eventually I will have a pretty decent fourwheeler for around 1500$ ish.

broke one of the strut arm things, and all the hubs all the wheels are ruined. needs a new steering post, handle bars, speedometer, headlight, all the hand controls. all new plastics and new racks if I feel the need or if I can't fabricate them myself.

I'll update pic's as I go.

pictures kind of suck... but you get the point.

just wondering if you guys have any good sites to purchase used parts or cheap new parts and any input concerning modifications I can ad while I have it all torn apart. I'm new to the ATV repair but I am pretty confident I have a lot of motorcycle and car repair experience so we'll see how it goes.

thanks for looking.

looks like you have a BIG project ahead of you. check on ebay for used parts and then cross ref. the pn#'s on the polaris or ronnies .com to see if they'll inchange. hopefully the frame isnt tweeked to much or it will never be right. there is a place that sells take off parts but i cant think of the name of the site. somebody should have it for ya. good luck.

What did he roll it off of, the Grand Canyon? He did a number on it. At least you know you should have a good engine at least. Well worth the 50.00.

the frame is straight, and the engine runs, it rolled about 100 yards down a fairly steep hill, it bounced probably 4-5 feet in the air everytime it rolled, it actually looks worse than it is, I need two new hubs a strut arm, handle bars and steering arm, and plastics obviously... I'm not in a rush I am just going to look for used parts on ebay and put it together as I can get them then when the time comes I think I will buy some new plastics for it so I can get the color I want and hopefully get it all back together we'll see.

Thanks for the input.
