Need help fixing front cv joint 04 700 sportsman
I was replacing the front springs and I pulled the strut out to far and the axle came out of the joint. Can I get the joint back together with the boot on? Is it a regular universal joint like the drive shaft the hooks to the motor or is it different? I can't see it with the boot on and hopefully I don't have to take the boot off. Thanks for any help

Where did the axle come out - near the differential or near the wheel hub. In any case no you can't put it back in without taking the boot off --- you have dislodged or broken the 'c' clip that holds the axle in the CV joint. No the CV joint is not like a universal joint.
You can get extra steel bands for your boot at the automotive store for about $2.00 each. You will also need a banding tool - borrow one or buy one on ebay for about $9.00.

The axle pulled out at the wheel. I had the strut off replacing the spring and I pulled to hard on the top of the spring. The axle slipped out of the cv joint. I feel the axle in the boot. I was just hoping I could get it back together without taking the boot off. Thanks

how do you know if the c clip is undone?A couple weeks ago i installed a lift kit front and rear and i had to push verry hard to fit the fronts springs back in and i heard sort of a clunking noise and it felt like it dropped down maybe half an inch...
So i wasnt quite sure if something was wrong or not so i put a chain on the hitch and tied the quad to a tree and all wheels were spinning...after thinking about it some more i realize that the clip is probably broken or damaged but the axle is still in but probably loose?
Is there any way you know if its undone or not without removing the boots?
thanks
