2006 450 Sportsman Problem, help!!!
#1
I am getting a knocking noise coming from the rear end of my quad. It intensifies when i am turning and going in reverse, but it will make the noise at any given time the quad is moving, I believe that it has something to do with the rear drive arms because i noticed upon inspection that the two boots that connect them were torn. What could be my problem????

well your not going to want to here this, but you have 2 cv joints gone. when the boot gets ripped it allows dirt, mud, water to get inside the joint and eats them right up. evently if you keep driving it that way it might lock the wheels up. time to replace them.

how much do the parts for this repair cost and what would I need?? i might try to have a friend do it for me, i know the dealer is going to rape me. how hard will it be to fix and how long would you expect it to take??

thanks, i think i could do it myself if i knew exactly which parts i need to order. let me get this straight the CV end is the end that goes to the demand drive and the other end goes to the wheel right??? I need the CV end (end that connects to the demand drive center opposite the end that connects to the wheel) because it is the end with the real bad torn boot right???? so do i just order it and replace it only or does the whole shaft with both sides have to be ordered?? I guess basically it doesnt sound too bad, just need to know exactly what to order. I think I will replace one side and then check and see if the other is needing it too, i can't tell if the other one is knocking or not. i know this is a lot but doing this myself would save a lot of money. aslo, could you explain the part that is NOT so easy and you would suggest taking it to the dealer and why you would do so???
Thanks a ton!!
