THE SCRAMMY LIVES! + rear shock question + other ?'s
Hey guys... its been like 4 years since I've been at the forums.
Also about 4 years since I took the scrambler out of the garage.
College/work etc got in the way of me fixing it.
Starter Bendix gear had locked up..
So this past weekend, finally got motivated, dragged her out,
took off front plastic, chain guard, chain, floor plate, and recoil to get
to the bendix.. sure enough as i had suspected 4 years ago, locked dead
against the fly wheel... So after a lot of liquid wrench, and hammering, she slid back.
Two squirts of starter fluid, and two pulls and she STARTED RIGHT UP AFTER 4 YEARS! faith in scrammy restored!
Next question:
Rear shock... mine is as limp as they get, Would the rear shock out of a 99 Scrammy 500 fit? or a 02 400?
Next: My AWD / Lights / Rad fan no worky... Given my battery is DEFINITLY completly dead and probably useless(been sitting for years ) I also had to jump the ignition switch because I have lost the key. So I just plugged the red into the black switch.. no splicing or anything, easiest hotwire ever...
So could these be the two reasons my awd doesnt work, and rad fan and lights dont work?
I was caught in some nasty brush trail, that my stupid self decided to push thru...
I was basically near dead still the whole time, just powering over plants, and moving tree branches out of my way (totally over grown trail) I guess all the hard work at low speed and no rad fan is bad, as my overflow started steaming like a tea kettle.! I turned her off, let her cool down, and then proceeded to get out of there, and hit the nearest puddle to cool her off.
AWD light on the button doesnt come on, so Im assuming its electrical related...
Dead battery and or getting a real key and using the switch as intended might help?

Hey Dan glad to see you back!
On your shock you will need a shock from a 95-early 98.
On the lights I bet you will need to replace ALL the bulbs from running it with a dead battery.GEt on ebay and find a switch and key.I just sold one last week that would have fit.

I would reccommend sending it to the Carver Performance. www.carverperformance.com. They can rebuild it and valve it to your weight/riding style for around $100. They have all the parts in stock and have a super fast turnaround. Very good people to work with. All of the shocks from the shop here go to them. If you get a used shock your probably going to spend $50+ and it probably has more than 2000 miles on it and not much better than the one you have.
