Default 2006 sp500 efi won'trun

My 2006 sp500efi suddenly began starting hard when warm. After a few minutes if you can get it to go the problem disappeared and the bike ran fine until I shut it off again. Acted like water in fuel, backfiring bogging and stalling. Problem became worse and now I cannot get it to run at all. Do not think it is water because once it has run for a while it works fine. Originally the starting problem was only when the bike was warm. Now it will not run at all. Plug looks fine. 1200 miles on machine. Ideas?

my friends 700r EFI doing everything you described and the problem was the throttle pisitioning sensor which regulates how much fuel gets pumped into the motor at different stages of acceleration

when you turn on the key does the fuel pump kick on? you may have to adjust the free play in the throttle so thees an 1/8" so the override dont kick on and make it do the shut down mode. just a thought.

Did you do the self test to see if there are any codes?? The procedure is in your owners manual

tried the self test, but it does not work. Could not get the system to go into self diagnosis.

If no codes come up, mine was doin the same thing here about a month ago, had to the dealer three times for them to finally figure out what it was. It ended being a connection under the seat somwhere that was disconnected or something electrical like that anways. Hope this helps.
