Default Oil Tank Leak 02 Sportsman

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a good summer. Has enyone had problems with there tanks leaking at the drain plug? The plastic washer/gasket was in good shape, but put a new one in anyway. I suspected at that point it was leaking around the out side of the thread insert. Its a minute leak. I can belive the price they want for parts ! $104.99 for a little plastic tank!! Holly shnikys!! Probably don't get a kiss either!
I did a quick search and didn't see any other similar problems. If this isn't a common problem, I'll look for a used one.
Have a nice Labor Day weekend!

i read somewhere where someone esle had a leaking issue also. where this is only plastic i bet it wouldnt take much to crack it by overtightening orstripping threads out. if its leakingby the washer maybe try some teflone tape for pipes on the threads. just an thought.

i had the same problem and i fixed it by making sure the oil plug and washer was oil free with some brake cleaner then i put RTV on each side of the washer and thats what i do every time i change my oil from now on and haven't had any trouble i hop this helps you.

Thanks for the input guys. I slowed the leak to just a weep with a larger diameter plastic washer. Hardwhare store for .30 cents, Polaris OE washer $2.50, no kiss! I'll try one of your sugestions next oil change, or if it starts dripping the way it was. Thanks again.
