Default Active Descent Control

I have a 2007 Sportsman 800 Deluxe with about 20 hours so far. Today it was acting like Active Descent Control was kicking in on level pavement. As soon as let off of the throttle, it would come to a very fast stop and there was some clatter of EBS activity. I was able to get normal operation by turning off AWD.

I like this feature on steep hills but not on level ground. Has anyone experienced this before? I don't think it was doing this until today? Anyone know of a way to have override toggle on Active Descent Control? THANKS!

on my 08' you have to actually put it in awd/adc mode for it to work. the reg. ebs braking works all the time.

Yes, that is no different in '07 except that '08 is cluttered with a label on AWD Mode that says "AWD/ADC". As I stated, it operates normally when I turn OFF AWD. My impression is that whatever sensor is sensing the Descent is not working correctly. Does anyone know about that sensor?

question, how do you know that the adc is coming on on flat surfaces? as far as i can tell the only thing adc does when its locked in is it actually locks the front wheels w/ the back wheels hence it has to be in awd to work. the ebs is the only thing that actually slows the bike down as far as i know, but could be wrong. someone helps us out if you know more info on this system.

Yes EBS slows the rear wheels down and ADC connects the front wheels to the rear wheels.
Yes your ADC will work if you are in AWD/ADC, only EBS, rear wheels, will work in 2WD.

ADC only activates when you are in AWD/ADC and the rear tires start to slip.

ADC will engage only if all of the following conditions exist:

1. Transmission is in H or L.
2. Throttle is closed.
3. AWD switch is in the AWD position.
4. Speed is less than 15 mph.

The system doesn't know if you are descending or not. And it will work on loose sand or a paved hill, traction doesn't matter.

My ADC only kicks in when the rear starts to slide on a steep downhill, you can feel the fronts holding back and the steering is harder till it regains traction. Doesn't it work like the AWD? only kicks in when there is some loss of traction?

Thanks guys, I tried some things today and I think it is driving normally. I think it was an issue of not being used to driving it so slow in AWD!

I am still interested in the schematic for this option and I am curious as to what the oil (reservoir near fuses) is doing for the system. My service manual is on the way but does anyone know how to drain that oil and its equivalent to Amsoil/Mobil1 or other synthetics?

Also interested in the latest info on "LT" Front Gearcase oil. I understand it is not 80W90 like the rear, but does anyone have that oil equivalent figured out?
