I`m working on an 02 90cc Predator for a friend. I`ve soaked and cleaned the carb, replaced the plug, and cleaned the air filter. I`ve also adjusted the carb, but this thing runs the best when the choke is 1/2 way on. It boggs down when you turn the choke completely off, any suggestions?

 

Will it idle on it's own? If it runs best with the choke on, then it is starving for fuel. Make sure there are no air leaks between:

1. the airbox and intake boot.
2. the intake boot and carburetor.
3. the carburetor and manifold.
4. the manifold and cylinder head.

Also make sure the intake boot is not cracked or dry rotted to where air is getting in through a small hole or crack.

If no air leaks, then the carb might need further cleaning in the main jet or needle jet.

 

did you clean the pilot jet?

 

Yes, I tore it down and soaked it in 2 gallons of crb clean.

 

I`ve sprayed some carb cleaner all around it to see if it died, it didn`t. I don`t think there is an air leak. By the way, yes it idles fine, just sputters out when throttling it.
