I was more than happy to get a winch when I got my quad. I relearned the important lesson of not having metal on your hands when I hit the positive terminal on the battery and the engine block at the same time. I nearly welded my wedding ring to the block. I lost a 3/4" by 1/8" chunk of skin to that burn. But, for the cause, it was worth it. I've used the winch about 6-7 times to pull out other quads.</end quote></div>

Maybe it was destiny that you almost welded your wedding ring to the quad, in other words, almost proposing to your popo, it could haul your dinner home but couldn't cook it. [img]i/expressions/brokenheart.gif[/img] [jk]

Quadaholic works for me. Rideaholic, PoPoaholic, they all work. I even looked for land in NH that was on the trails I use. You know, out the door, start up the quad, ride out the backyard, into the woods. I think Stendori has this kind of setup if I've read his posts correctly. Saw one out of my price range.... I'll survive....

Quadaholic that's cool. my local dealer does'nt stock many quads they're also a john deere dealer.their idea of a side by side is a gator.me and my wife went to talk to "santa" yesterday in a city nearby.they're the closest true dealer near me.they had 4 08 525 irs outlaws one was soild white.i felt a little cramped in the leg area but the foot location was further back than on mine.it felt like it didn't weight anything.they also had a red 08 800 sportsman with 28" mudzillas and ss rims that thing was a beast.to top that they had a 500 preddy not sure of the year they put a big bore kit in it and set it up for dragging.it does the 1/8 mile in 9sec not bad for a quad. so many choices so little money

RticKwad, that reminds me of a thought I had about building on property I do have in VT. When I have the time, I don't have the money. When I have the money, I don't have the time. I checked into riding in VT. They want you to have liability insurance because some of the trail connectors are Class 4 roads. (Maintained dirt roads). I asked VT insurance agents how much it would cost to get insurance to ride in VT and NH if I live in Massachusetts. VT and NH agents would not sell to me since I live in Mass. and the quads are garaged in MA. I called a MA agent about it and got a quote for $485 apiece. I did not want to spend and extra $970 on a hobby so we still ride in NH where you don't need the insurance. The irritation is that the ATV trail goes through and below my property. I have a 50 or so mile trail that goes through my backyard that I can't use!!!! UGGGGGHHHHHHH!!! I can use the small stretch on my property but it is up a nasty tree and rock lined hill that I try not to use because of some 60 degree pitch spots.

MH,

Man that is messed up. So what if you just go uninsured?
Would it be illegal? I would think you should be able to ride
on your own private property. What about any arguments
for utility use, like farming, logging etc.?

It's legal to ride on my own property. It is illegal now in VT to go on any public way without the liability insurance. They probably figure that sooner or later someone is going to plow into a car with their quad or vice versa. Utility use quads have to be registered if off of their own property so they probably would need to be insured also. It stinks. I was going to get a camper to put up there, but now I don't think so. I probably spend $50-$60 for gas and food whenever I go up to Claremont, NH where we ride. On a good day we see dozens of quads. I'm sure it is helping there economy a bit.
