Default Have you ever heard?

What do you think people?
i have a junker chinese atv that i bought for $300 and the cdi box just quit on me and they dont make parts for this machine...i think i can use a kazuma or Redcat box, but i just got to wondering...
is there any way to bypass the cdi box or use something else like a distributor or something?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

just a guess, but i dont you can bypass it since it controls how the bike fires and when i do beleave. its not an BMX brand wheeler is it?

What brand is it? A lot of these are clone engines from older model Honda and Yamahas. The brand would help determine what model of those you could use for a replacement.

yea im pretty sure th bmx models are honda clone engines, but 100 % sure.

its a MOTORTEK...from what i understand its a german design but built in china.
i looked online and the CDI boxes that Kazuma or Redcat use look extremely close to the one that came off it.
and they're only about $20, so i thought i'd give it a try!

Im pretty sure you cant without some sort of module , i did see a guy once use a older gm control module on a single 400 suzuki engine and it worked, the reason for these cdi modules is for controlling the spark generated by the mag or rectifier, There is a signal wire from the crank to the cdi then the spark is reworked to low voltage and controlled down instead of high voltage then passes thru the coil to the plug ,trying to figure out which wire goes where is the hard part but it could be done, or not done depending on if you fry some wires. for what its worth you can do it if your lucky or fry the whole deal if your not lucky.

Try this, find a ford ignition module off a late 80s' early 90's . should have a white, red on one plug and green,oarnge, puple and black on other. wire the white wire to the starter switch, same circuit the runs to the solinoid. run the red wire to 12v from the ignition switich. green to the - tach side of coil. you will need to run 12v to the +coil from the ignition switch through a ballist resistor (like off a old mopar). run the purple and orange to the pulser coil. make sure you got the pulser and not the exciter. ground the black wire. worked on my old harly sled.
