I'm trying to buy a 97 Sportsman & having a little trouble getting a customs/recall clearance letter.

The problem is that the machine is registered with what appears to be an incorrect VIN. Not only that, all the sales receipts from the previous 2 owners all have this same incorrect VIN.

The issue is that there is a letter in the last 6 digits, specifically a "C" at the beginning of the last 6. Having had the seller check the frame rail, he seems to believe it is a "C" or possibly a poorly stamped "0".
