Default Help oil problems

2001 scrambler 400 oil pump went bad blocked off doing premix but so far i have tried two different ratios 50/1 and 40/1 when i tried 50/1 it ran and idled fine but lost power alot. today i tried 40/1 even worse no power but ran its not smoking like it would be running rich. when the oil pumped worked it hardley used any oil
can you run 60/1 or 70/1 it seems like it is bogging down likes its too much oil

yup 40/1 if your having poor running issues sure your carb isnt dirty or a bad plug? this could be your problem..but definetly dont run anything like 50/1 or 60/1 or 70/1 . they need oil.

This question my have an obvious answer, but why not spent $180 bucks and a little time to replace the oil pump versus blowing the thing up?

The answer to your question is $$$ but when i went to the polaris dealer the mechanic suggested premix and said it works well, thats a crock. I talked to another guy today at polaris and he said to find out what in the oil pump went bad and i could get the part and repair it

Not sure how premix will hurt a engine, oil injection is just for convenience for filling up the gas tank.It does not provide better a oil supply to the motor in any way. I see countless of people disconnect there oil injection system on sleds without ill effects, should be the same with a ATV.
