2002 Sportsman 700?
#11
I talked to the guys at Gene's Polaris in Baytown, Tx and they have the top selling record and are suppose to be the best in the USA. Or so the p[lack on there wall says. But they say it will be in a sportsman first, released as a late 01' model. With a sport bike following.

Just my opinion, I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the Sportsman form first, as they sell 2 or 3 Sportsmans for every Scrambler right now. Just simple economics.
As for the weight, I doubt that a 700 twin would be any heavier than a 500 single. It would have more moving parts, but shouldn't be heavier.

Polaris will stay competitive, they are a smart company. Look at there sleds they competete well in all classes if not the best than top 3 easily. There atv's are the same the SP rules its class with an iron fist. the only place they lack is the true sports machine. They ought to take the XCR 800 engine and put it in a lightweight fully independent suspended frame with a 6 speed tranny.
but it probably will not be a 2 stroke. 2001 or 2002 I bet we will see some cool stuff they need all new machines to liven things up.
