2001 325 Trail Boss for $1,000 ?
What area of the country it's being sold in can make a difference too.
Seen a couple of them around here that looked to be in good shape and they were selling between 1500 and 2000.
Sold mine to my brother in law about 2 months ago for 1500. Of course, he also knows the maintenance history of it too.
Over all, mine was, and still is rock solid. Not the fastest, not gonna get you through 3 feet of mud. But it is a good overall quad. Got me through some places I didn't think it would. Mine has taken a pretty good beating over the years and held up quite well.

My wife has that same machine and it does everything she wants to do but that isd pretty limited to basic trail riding. Being a 2x4, it is a very light machine but it is still a very small 4 stroke engine so don't expect tons of power out of it. After riding my 400 2 stroke, it is a dog but that is the difference between a 2 and 4 stroke. We have had no problems with it. A buddy of mine went ridding with me and we got into the snow (4 in) and as long as he stayed on the gas and powered up the hills, he was ok but the original tires don't have much grip. It would be a good starter machine for someone who is looking at entering the market and for $1000, dpeending on other machines in your area, you won't be risking much. The reverse issue could be a linkage adjustment since it uses the same linkage as forward. If someone adjusted it so the forward locks in better, they would have adjusted the reverse out of tollerance. I have heard it can be time consuming trying to get it readjusted back but not difficult. Just make sure it runs. The wife's is very cold blooded so don't worry about that, just get it warmed up and then evaluate.

not real sure on whats wrong with it but ive seen em go from anywhere 1200 to 2500 depend on condition.i have had one for 7months and i like it it rides good on trails and in the woods i do have a little problem with chain tension cant keep it tight may need new chain gears anyway id say if motor runs good bike in decent shape it maybe a 1000 if tranny is repairable then again if not part it out and i bet you could still make a few bucks of the deal! ive trailridden this bike never any problem ive had it out deer hunting it goes great it pulls hills problem mud up to floorboards no problem id say buy fix n ride.
