Dead battery

Was it on a automatic charger?
It may have overcharged on your charger!
Can you check the level in each cell on that battery?
I agree take it back if only 4 weeks old!!.......Caper........

Here's the one I just installed in my 700.....It's a little pricey but you get what you pay for I think....It's got some good specs......Check it out........If you get one You'll need the PC925L.....That one has the terminals on the correct sides but they are side terminals so a little battery box mod is required, no big deal.....Good luck.

SpudRacer that's not a good idea using a 10 amp charger on your quad's battery and charging system , i always use a motorcycle/ATV/ lawn mower battery charger/Tender with 1 or 2 amp charge for 12 to 18 hour's and check the water level if it's low put only distilled water to put it back to the maximun level !
I never even use a 10 amp charge on my Automotive batteries when they are completely dead , i put them on no more that 2 amp trickle charge ; i have saved countless batteries my brother's thought had a dead cell because they let them set up untill they thought they were no good when hooked up to a 10 amp charge cycle !
I have made a good profit reselling these old batteries to family and freind's at $5.00 to $10.00 each on these batteries everyone thought had dead cell's , i have a battery tester i use to check batteries and it has shown a battery that wouldn't take a charge ; and i could recharge 8 out of 10 that my tester had shown a dead cell or negative reading of the batteries condition !
The battery in my 87' Chevy S10 Tahoe longbed pickup wouldn't start a coulpe of day's ago , the next morning it came a hard freeze ; and my brother and a freind wanted to move the truck so they could get an old Toyota Corolla that i was giving to this guy for scrap metal !
Both my brother and the guy who came with him to get the junk Toyota , told me the battery wouldn't take a charge because it was dead and had sit outside overnight when it came a deep freeze had killed the cell's in the battery ; the guy told me he had to put a new battery in his truck the morning of the freeze !
I told both of them i could put the battery on a trickle charge overnight and it would charge , but neither one believed me and my brother told me he would bring a good battery from one of his truck's with them the next day ; i had to run a drop cord from the house out to my truck and put my battery tender on a 2 amp charge overnight !
They waited untill 3 pm the next day to come back with the carhauler , and my brother started to remove the battery from my truck ; he had to get my key's to open the hood and exchange the batteries so i went out to the truck unlocked the door got in and hit the starter it fired right up with the old battery !
Neither my brother or his freind could believe it was the same battery , they thought i had removed the battery from my 88' GMC S1500 Jimmy 4x4 MPV just to show them i was right ; because the guy had a battery tester and had checked the battery in the S10 the day before and it had shown the battery had a dead cell and wouldn't hold a charge !
The battery had come from Auto Zone , it was a 3 year Dura Last battery that i put in the S10 over 5 year's ago ; and i had let it go completely dead 5 or 6 time's since i bought it for $38.99 and by the way that's where i bought the batteries for my 86' Honda Foreman 4x4 and my 93' Suzuki LTF4WD 300 KQ 4x4 over 7 yrs. ago !
And i sold my brother the Foreman in Nov. 2005 and the Suzuki KQ in Feb. 2006 , and both these batteries have never failed to start the atv's since i sold them to my brother and sisterinlaw ; my brother blew the engine on the Foreman about 3 month's ago and the battery is still good he just put's a battery tender on them over night every month to keep them charged !
But in your case SpudRacer i would get the biggest Deep Cycle Marine battery i could find to work my wench doing the knid of work you're going to be doing , the Deep Cycle Marine batteriies are made to run completely down ; and will recharge thousand's of time's without damage to them !
But i'm not saying to run or hook it to your quad , just get or make a battery box for the Deep Cycle battery ; and don't use the charging system of your quad to recharge anything but the battery in your atv !
Either that are get a small gas powered generator to light up the area you clearing , and to recharge the Deep Cycle battery with ; i wouldn't use my quad's charging system to run the headlight's and wench to such and extreme condition it will cost you in the long run otherwise !
Good luck with whatever you deside to do , and i hope it work's out for you ; happy holiday's to all !.....

stendori is right about taking the battery back for a replacement if it's only a month old , i would take it back if it was 2 or 3 month's old ; and another thing about using your headlight's to light up your work area !
You could use a couple coleman gas lantern's to use for light instead of light's on your quad , it would be less of a strain on your battery and charging system of your atv ; just another thought to reduce the strain of your atv !
Good luck , and have a safe and a Merry Christmas , and a Happy New Year ; to everyone on the forums !..............

John, I looked over that Odyssey, but the Yuasa is a better battery in that it has 30AmpHrs, the Odyssey only has 28AmpHrs. That means the Yuasa can put out a 1 amp load for 30 hours vs. 28 with the Odyssey.

P.S. The battery is now up to 13.6V WHILE ON A TRICKLE CHARGER, and was barely able to start the Polaris, but I have the Yuasa on order anyway.

I COULD take the battery back to the dealer, but the dealer is a 3 hour drive away. That equals at least $45 in gas money and a wasted day off. My time is worth too much to drive all the way back to Chattanooga.
As for using a 10amp charge, I only did it for 20 minutes. A high amp charge for a short period of time can desulfate a battery that has been run down, but can also explode the battery. It appears to have worked with mine.
The factory 800 battery says Polaris and is an AGM battery, no adding fluid....

I suggest replacing the battery with a new Yuasa YB30-L (30 amp Battery POL P/N 4010630)....
The Maintenance free part number is Yuasa YIX30L (I do not recommend this one)
You will need to add a drain tube to it also...
I have found that the maintanence free batteries are like greaseless bearings...
They Can't be maintained properly under all conditions....
Example: Your battery heats up and the heat has no where to go... (Maintenance Free has no breather)
You end up boiling the cells. The Maintainable battery will disapate heat through the vent... You may lose acid.... but that is replaceable....
MY OPINION...
I purchase all my batteries from my Polaris dealer where they place the battery in a pail of water
fill it with acid.... place on a trickle charger for at least 6-8 hours.
The battery should last 3-4 years without any maintenance... but I check mine after 3 for sure
and then every year after that....
You add distilled water as needed....
My 2 cents... Hope this helps.
