Thanks Mountaineerider...I checked the boot to the cyclinder and it appears to be attached. Now, I assume that the boot to the cylinder is the boot that is attached to the carb on one end and the cylinder on the bottom end...yeah, it looks like it is still attached...it's a carb machine.

Thanks Bill/wnoll...I checked the throttle cable and it is fine, it takes back the throttle when you pull and let go...

thanks Brainerdian...sounds like you have some real experience, however how do I find the rubber intake? dunno where that is...</end quote></div>

Between the air filter and the carb. Usually a rubber "pipe" that allows air into the carb.

Just use a capful because it'll sometimes backfire when doing this. Less flamable material the better.

I would try and clean the carb with some Sea Foam.

If you can, take off the intake rubber at the carb and "throw" in a capful of Sea Foam as you turn it over - then let it sit for a few minutes. Then try to start it again.

My theory is that a deposit let loose and plugged the carb.

Try this a few times. If it doesn't work, you may need to take the carb off and clean it by soaking in carb cleaner or take the carb to someone that will clean it for you.

Good Luck

BTW - If you don't already, I'd recommend using Sea Foam or Sta-bil every time you put gas in the tank.</end quote></div>

That happened to my EFI sportsman, an 07 500x2. So i dont think its the carb, it would usually only backfire at low speeds though. After getting a new computer and wiring harness everything worked out, which is rather confusing.

i would say check the float i had a similar problem on my scrambler you have to take the carborator off first
then just take the 4 screws on the botom of the carb off and check the float adjustment and make shure its moving properly up and down. you can also shake the float by your ear to see if you can hear any liqud sloshing if you do u need a new float because it is garbage. unless you can put some jb weld to fix it idk i never had that problem before
