Darn it. I just changed my front diff fluid 3 months ago and have put on about 75 miles on it. Luckily I was in 2wd most of the time so hopefully and damage was minimalized I thought my front diff had been acting funny since then but figured it was nothing. Now I think I might have used the regular demand drive fluid because the dealer didn't have the LT when I bought the fluids. If I remember right they told me it was the same stuff and it would be fine.

I will have to double check the bottle when I get home tonight. I hope I didn't trash my diff as I am way out of warranty and have no proof they told me the stuff would be fine.

Edit 1:

DAMN! Just called home and sure enough it's part #2871654 premium demand drive fluid.

I will have to call around today and see if anyone has the LT and change it out ASAP. I hope to god no lasting damage was done.

edit 2:

Figures, 1 dealer in 30 miles even knew what the LT fluid was and had any in stock. At least 2 tried to tell me that the standard demand drive fluid was the same thing and fine to use. I can't believe the level of ignorance that is still prevalent with this stuff.

Half of them probably don't know about the oil changing from 0W-40 to 2W-50, and I think that was a few model years ago. I wish my friend who's a master mechanic knew as much about ATVs as he does cars. I could supply him with beer and get everything fixed instead of taking it to those grease monkeys at the dealer.

Well, more than 60 hours since I had the wrong fluid in there, and everything is fine. And the new seal is still holding up good as new.

i know 06' had the 0-40 and the 08's now have the 2-50, not sure about the 07's. i bought a qt of the lt fluid and a filter for $23.00. if that isnt cheap enough for a $9,000. bike and knowing you have the right product that wont hurt the front end then you shouldnt be buying a high priced atv and trying to use walmart oils. imo.

It's got nothing to do with the cost but availability and a clueless dealer that doesn't even carry the right product.....

1 Quart of LT DDF is $13.00 from the local dealer Hear.
The Standard DDF is $9:00

I think I might have the best Local Dealer Ever.

Hey guys, I've been gone for a few months, and I'm trying to catch up on things. I hope you all are doing well and had a good summer. Winter has set in up here that's for sure. I'll be putting the plow back on the 800 soon.

Looks like all my pics are jacked up......the links are screwed up or something. Not just on this forum but other forums I have pics hosted on as well. I do my own hosting so I'll have to check up on it.

I have the same smashed oil drain symtom on my 2005 sprtsman 800.
Has anyone found advice on this? My Machine had only 300 miles on it when I discovered this. I have put another 300 on it since with no probs.
