replacing starter

Default replacing starter

i have a sportsman 500 ho i think the starter is going when i try to start it it cranks a couple of times and then starts spinning is it hard to put a new one on thanks for your help?

Make sure your battery is good first. Then I'd be checking out the starter bendix. If the starter is spinning it's working. If it's not turning the motor over while spinning, it's proibably the bendix.

yea i had a bendex problem on my 500 scrambler and i paid 140 for one then i figured out on my 400 sport whitch has the same bendex you can take them apart and fix them not that hard i didn't even need any special tools

Default replacing starter

i had a broken weight on one of them and the other one was just rusted so i just soked it in oil and put a new sprint in there that goes around the weights. they both work great
