Adding handlebar mounted switch to winch
#1
I'm looking for information and would greatly appreciate any helps, tips or advice.
I've got a Dayton winch on my 425 Magnum that has a horrible rocker switch mounted in a large switch box. I want to add a handlebar rocker switch and connect over to the winch.
I know I need to get a rocker switch and a solenoid of some type. I can't find any information on Dayton winches and I'm pretty sure they never designed a remote switch for my model of winch. (1500 lb).
Anyone have any suggestions on where to get a good solenoid, which solenoid you'd recommend, wiring adivce or any other tips or comments? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You will need a thumb switch and a contactor with a pigtail. Both of these are available here.

Mount the thumb switch and route the wires under the front cover. The red wire on the switch goes to a key hot wire (orange and white on my '07 X2). Replace the contactor and plug in the pigtails and you should be set.
P.S. - Parts about $55
