ok i got 99 polaris scrambler 500 4x4.... my dad rode it with bad battery worked ok for awhile then everything quit no 4x4 no speedometer battery dont charge...
is this stator??? voltage regulater??? what could it be??? also how do i go about testing statior and rest of the stuff? what should the ohms be???


ALSO primary clutch should i be able to push with my hands fairly hard and be able to move clutch all the way in.... like its engaged??

 

you really need a service manual, and in order to see if the stator is functioning, you need to have your meter on volts AC, to test the regulator, you need your meter on the diode setting, and in my opinion i would buy a new battery first before doing nething else and then see if it's charging.

 

New battery in it goes dead when riding it...... i bought clymer shop manual bout hour ago....
ANY more advice on what could be wrong with the clutch issue
and what should the stator test where do i test all that good stuff

 

you could have a weak clutch spring. they dont have alot of pressure but not to sure if you should be able to completey close it or not. make sure when the bike is running w/ a fully charged batteru that it is putting out at least 13.5 volts. the book should be able to tell you how to test the parts.
