Going to get the service manual is the only way to go, imo. It teaches you invaluable skills that you may have to depend on some day when your bike breaks down out in the middle of nowhere. Also, if you read through the manual you'll have a much better understanding of how things work on a quad. What is there not to like? Ok, so you've got to get your hands dirty in the process. Look on the bright side, hand soap is a lot cheaper than paying someone else to do the work.

Knowledge is power. The Polaris Service manual costs about $70 from the dealer. You may be able to find one online, from another dealer for less. The Polaris Quick Reference Manual (do a google search) is a .pdf file which has ALL kinds of parts numbers for manuals and accessories for most later model years Polaris quads. Download it and save it.

The Haynes Polaris book is, for the money, a good cross reference, and you should buy it also. Haynes uses some OEM data in their books, but often does the tear-down 'as a beginner', and sometimes gives specific OEM info regarding certain repair procedures.

Like another poster said, the information gathered from casual reading could save you hundreds of dollars on simple repairs, detecting failing parts, or recovering yourself when stranded in the back country.

The particular Service Publication number for your Hawkeye is 9920206.
