Default help with 4x4 problem

I have a 02 sportmans 500. If i back up and turn to the right with 4wheel drive on then stop put it in drive with 4wheel drive still on straighten the wheel and go the wheel pulls right like the left wheel comes out of 4wheel drive. It will do the same thing if i back and turn left then it feels like the right comes out when i try to go.If i back up with out turning its fine.Going forward the 4wheel drive is fine.Only happends if i back up and turn. The only way to stop it when it happends is to back straight then go or turn the quad off.Dosen't do it all the time.Any ideas.

Default help with 4x4 problem

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. I took mine to the dealership, and they located a broken wire in the hub, so it would work intermittently. I would trace the wires and make sure they are all intact and/or not grounding out. There are other things that can be wrong, but sounds like a broken wire from the handlebars to the hub.

You said the battery is low , the four wheel system works off electricity, battery can affect it alot.

test the battery to see how much voltage. or charge it up full and test the awd again w/ full battery charge and if it works fine then you know its a lack of voltage issue.

rereading your post it seems weird that it will do w/ either wheel depending on which way its turned.cant say that one hub and not the other is coming out of being locked. you did replace the hub fluild w/ the right stuff? i've heard that sometimes the wrong fluid makes the hubs not work. check to make sure theres no broken or bare wires that are catching or something to shut it down when you turn. just a shot in the dark.

Take the hubs apart and clean the hub clutches , if they were run low or with dirty oil it causes them to stick.
