polaris scrambler 500 4x4 not locking in
Today I put the bike up off the ground and put it in 4. The right side was locking in but seemed to be catching sometimes. nothing on the left. Then the right side stopped. I checked all the wires and they were good. Took the switch apart and it was all good. then I took the wheels off and took the bearings out. the yokes looked good not worn. I cleaned the pins, put it all back together and still nothing. It seems like it may be something to do with the magnet and the armiture plate? Not really sure how this assembly works. can anybody help?

The polaris dealership sells hub fluid for them. There is a small allen on the hub on the outside of the tire. Anytime I have problems with the front hubs I rebuild them. I have done it twice since I have owned it and it only takes 30-35 min for both. Take them apart and clean all the parts and reassemble them and refill as per the manual. I ride through alot of mud and water, thats why mine got so dirty. As long as you have power(electricity) going to the hub then all you have to do is clean the hubs.

Today I took both hubs apart and cleaned them. I replaced the armiture plates and refilled with the proper fluid. One wheel, the front right is kind of locking in but seems to be kicking in and out. nothing on the left. Also some fluid is leaking slowly from behind the ball joint is there a seal in there that can be replaced?

It's probably the magnet, yes there is a seal, take it back apart and see if the magnet holds the armature plate when you turn the key on and awd swith on it should take quite a bit to get the plate away when on, ther is a sleave over the magnet , reolace both with magnet and get a new seal.Follow wires up from magnet to where they plug in and make sure you have votage to the magnet first.
