About as long as it takes to get the engine up to operating temp. After that, anything goes.

I alway do 3 warm up cycles. First let the engine come up to operating temp and shut it down let it cool completely off. Next bring it up to temp and ride it giving it 1/4 to 1/2 throttle for a few minutes then shut it down let it cool completely off. Then bring it up to temp and ride it giving it up to 3/4 throttle for a few minutes then shut it down let it cool completely off. I then ride it like I stole it. Just remember to vary the throttle and don't keep it at a steady speed while breaking it in.

on that kind of break in your only breaking in the rings. vary the throttle and dont get the engine hot by beating in it. we just did a rebuild on a 2 stroke sled top end and i told him to add oil to one tank of gas and just vary the throttle and dont keep it at one rpm too long. imo.

RCR's break in is very time consuming. But i'll tell you, Rick is pretty sharp, you went to him for the work, why wouldn't you follow his procedures for break in. My 250 takes a beatin' and keeps on going, race after race. I broke in according to Rick. Doc

Care to explain why this is not a good method? Please be specific as to what it will hurt (name every part) and why (explain exactly how the parts you mentiond got damaged ).

WELL to start your so called breakin is a urban legend and if you prefer to break in that banshee your dreaming about getting someday like that thats fine with me but it not the correct way to break in a polaris or anything you want to last, as for damage to specific parts i unlike you don't really like to type and was just trying to help a fellow polaris rider get the best out of his machine

That's what I thought. You don't know.
I'll even make it a little bit easier for you. Just name one part it will hurt and why.
