what is an ecm? is there on on a polaris scambler 2001 or polaris sport 400l 1998?</end quote></div>

ECM is "engine control module". Required for fuel injected engines, seldom seen on carbed engines. If you have a carb, you don't have an ECM.

You're right, sorry. I wonder what they think the big difference is between "module" and "unit", other than the spelling?!?

I knew that, the question was mostly rhetorical. My point was that Engine Control MODULE isn't that far from Engine Control UNIT. To avoid confusion, I'd think they would use less generic names like "Fuel Control Module".

Just nitpicking a bit.

The units they are calling ecm's are actually called PDM's or power distribution modules. Just fyi.

The Polaris Tech Bulletin gives affected model numbers, not VIN's. I looked all over but cannot find an etched, stamped, or stickered model number anywhere on the machine. VIN's everywhere, model numbers not so much. Where can I get the actual model number of my wife's 2006 SP500EFI?

Thanks!

I'm glad the 07s are still ok... Untill they expand it a few more years. I wonder if Caper could take his in for a fourth ECM [img][/img]</end quote></div>

Well as for my 4th ECM or PDM as they call it.........I should not need it my replacement is the up-dated one!!
But will they need a recall on the recall ????
I mean I did have one of these new recall ones replaced already!!!!....So when it all comes down to it.......There really no better then the factory one!!!.......RIGHT????

As for the recall......My wife's still has the factory one in there and I would like to know if there is any Recall here in Canada??.......Caper........
