I use 5-30 castrol syntec in the engine and tranny, my 425 has 6000 + miles and my 700 has 3600 never any problems and have used this oil since they were new.

Thats way I use snowmobile chain case oil. The sled,s chain case has a chain, reverse, foward and low range so it that not what the ATVs tranny has also?

Plus the bottle states "For ATV Also". http://www.pecuniary.com/synth...vetrain/chaincase.html

Does not mention its weight though.

I use Shell Rotella 5W40 synth in the Phoenix and Trailboss trannies. I'm sure any motor oil would be fine in the 5W40-10W40 range. Heck the Phoenix had 90 Weight when I got it. Drained out like molasses. Putting lighter oil didn't seem to make any perceptable difference. Snowmobile chaincase oil seems like another viable option. I know some use ATF in the trannies.........evidently its all good.
