Default Sportsman 300 vs Sportsman 400

Hello,

Is the Sportsman 300 (the new Hawkeye) the same size body-wise as the more powerful Sportsman 400? They look the same visually except for the bigger tires on the 400 (which I believe are 24" all around).

I want to make sure they are the same dimension (especially the clearances between the rear wheels and the fenders) because a friend of mine put 25" ITP Mudlites on his 400 and I want to be sure that the same 25" tires will fit on my 300 as well. It looks to me that 25" will come very very close to rubbing on my 300.

Thanks for your help

24" Swamp Fox tires were too big on the 300 my wife had. I had to grind some of the forward fender off for it to clear. I think Rickey Parker runs 25" though. He'd be better to give information on this topic. I'm sure he'll chime in sooner than later.

I have 25" mudlites on my Hawkeye (same as Sportsman 300) with the stock wheels with absolutely no rubbing. No grinding of anything either.

I bought 25" Swamplites for my Hawkeye with the idea that 25" tires should fit it fine, well when the new tires where mounted on the stock rims they actually stand a full 26" high! I have to tell you I was extremely relieved when they mounted up without rubbing, very close to the foot well but no contact anywhere in the up/down travel of the IRS. I have put a bunch of miles on these this winter/spring in the deep snow, hills, water and mud with excellent results.
So take the time to actually check the tire height on a site like Highlifters.com before you order!
Side note: Mudlite ATs actually run a bit undersize according to several sites I have checked so they may be a good choice in this case

The 25 inch tires will work , I run the 25 inch goodyear rawhides and I didnt have any fitment problems just Power problems, i did however trim some of the foot well plastic to make it look like there was more room, I have like 1 inch of room left on the backs and Lots of room on the front and they didnt rub when turning either.
