Default HELP WITH PREDATOR CLUTCH

i have a 2003 polaris predator that i have recently changed all of the discs, springs, and plates in. i also bought a new cable and put on when i changed the rest of it. but the clutch would not engage until i let the cable fully out on both ends of the cable(handlebar and engine mount.) now even when i have it all the way out on both ends i still have to rev the engine up or it will die when i takes off. i wanted to try this before i took it to the shop and payed a bunch of money. is this normal? is there something else i should change or adjust? this is my second atv and i dont know much about it because my last one was a yamaha. any advice would help. thanks in advance
