Default 2x4 problem

When I use switch in 2x4 mode, it has no difference from AWD mode on my Polaris Sportsman 2006 500HO. Anyway if rear wheels loose traction, front wheels automatically engages, but it shouldn't be. Am I right, any ideas for this problem. On instrument panel AWD sign appears when I switch to AWD and dissapears, when I switch to 2x4.

Does it happen all the time? Been some post of unwanted awd coming on when the ATVs are in 2x4 mode. If it happens when the rear wheels are spinning fast than the front engages it can cause damage in the front differential.

Default 2x4 problem

Since I noticed this problem, my switch is always on AWD mode. I've never changed switch position from 2x4 to AWD when rear wheels ar spinning (according to Polaris manual). If its electronically regulated, could problem be in wires? I just want sometimes 2x4 mode for donuts, burnouts and other experimenting

Ok, I found some posts. Seems it's should be so and to make longer life for front differential, I should change my driving habits (no jumping, no... etc.)

just leave your switch in 2x4 and switch it when you think you'll be riding in bad stuff. never switch the switch from 2x4 to awd while the wheels are spinning(loosing traction) or front end damage could happen.
