Default 1999 sportsman 500 HO advice

I am fixing to purchase a 1999 500ho sportsman from a friends father,it has been garaged and is in pretty good shape, the price he is asking is $1500.It seems like a great price but are there any issues with the older bikes that I should check out first?was this a good yer and any problem areas to check out first?
thanks in advance for the help

They did not make the 500H.O until 2001. All that H.O means is Polaris added the 500 Scambler's larger 40mm carb and high duration cam for a livelier mid to high power band.

Our 97 Sportsman has been good to us with 7000 miles on it and the in 98 they came out with some good improvements for the SP500.

Florida means it hasn't seen salt or snow, or a plow. That really sounds good, if it runs and moves I wouldn't be afraid of it. Doc

It needs the 500 Scamblers or 500 H.O high duration cam and there larger 40mm carburetor.
